We are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Wisconsin Medical Society, the professional association for physicians in Wisconsin.  This is a full time position based out of our Madison office. 

Primary Role as Professional Agent with the Employee Benefits Team – to support client growth and manage an existing book of business.  This role requires the ability to develop relationships, continuously grow employee benefit insurance knowledge, and provide excellent service response.  This is a unique opportunity to gain professional expertise, specializing in the healthcare industry as a part of the Wisconsin Medical Society enterprise.   Compensation is primarily salary, based on book of business serviced, plus commission on new business directly produced.

Work Duties & Activities:

  • Communicating with Professionals Outside Organization
    • Contact underwriters and wholesale brokers to quote, bind and renew business
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships
    • With client leadership and insurance management team
    • With outside professionals and business partners
    • With Membership, Marketing and Advocacy colleagues at Wisconsin Medical Society
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems
    • Working in tangent with the EB sales team to manage problems and insurance processes quickly and accurately
  • Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others
    • Confer with clients to obtain and provide information required by underwriting
    • Monitor any issues with claims or risk resource professionals with the insurance carriers
  • Updating and Maintaining Records
    • Efficiently perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and handling policy renewals
  • Document all activity related to a customer or policy in our Benefit Point Client Management System, attaching all supporting documentation
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work

Other duties may be assigned that are necessary to conduct the business of an insurance agency

Professionalism Required and Supported:

  • Encourage attending events to develop professional knowledge, relationships, or networks
  • Senior Agent mentoring activities like negotiating benefit quotes and options, designing proposals and presentations to clients
  • Learning through mentoring, insurance carrier training and self-study of product information to acquire professional knowledge
  • Industry training and designations is supported and encouraged

Qualifications:

Prior insurance experience is not required.  An associate degree is preferred, and an understanding of general employee benefits insurance appreciated.  Must obtain a Wisconsin Insurance License for Life and Health within 90 days of start date. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Experience with data entry software and client management systems is a plus along with strong personal computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.  Strong oral and written communication skills.  Position requires adaptability and flexibility to function in multiple roles across the service team to provide general agency support.

We have a unique opportunity for a driven salesperson to work with Medical Professionals who are members of the Wisconsin Medical Society.  This position works in tandem with WisMed Financial’s Certified Financial Planner to provide insurance solutions that complement financial planning and give members income protection and peace of mind regarding their finances.
